You start off the game as usual, but I will note the differences (as well as what I do) as I go along. Refresh constantly for more updates as I play! There is now a
Platinum Notes II section. These sections serve as an VERY basic walkthorugh of the game, and points out differences between D/P and Platinum. Newer things are towards the bottom. There are pictures at the post below. Not too many at the moment, though. The new sprites also look quite nice. Thanks for visiting! To the right, you can see the intro screen of Platinum. Picture courtesy of
filb.de (click on it for a larger picture!) More pictures shall be added when there is time.
- Better intro, updated looks, sprites, etc.
- Giratina's cry when you press the start button (or a) at the screen.
- Instead of a Munchlax at the beginning of the game, a Buneary comes out of the Pokeball.
- Different clothing for the heroes.
- TV broadcast is not the red gyrados. Instead, it's at the front of Rowan's lab.
- Meet Prof Rowan, your rival, and Dawn/Lucas at Route 201 to get your starter (chosing your starter, to the right. ).
- Battle your rival after they (Prof Rowan & Dawn/Lucas) leave.
- Win, then screen blacks out and you return home to talk to your mom, who gives you running shoes.
- Meet your rival at Route 201 again, to go to Lake Verity
- Your rival sees someone! Who could it be? I'll give you a hint: He's ugly (If you guessed Cyrus, you're right! Here is a virtual cookie. If you forgot who he is, he is the leader of Team Galactic) Cyrus leaves.
- After he leaves, you hear Mesprit's cry!
- Your rival runs off.
- You run off to Prof's lab
- Wild Pokemon Sprites are different, and your back sprite moves (as previously reported)
- Meet Lucas there at the lab, and rival runs into you. Again. And he runs off. Again.
- Go with Lucas into the lab. Prof wants to know if you want to nickname your starter.
- Leave, and Prof Rowan gives you TM 27. Lucas/Dawn forces you to follow him/her for the tour of Sandgem Town.
- Tell your mother you're going on a journey. Get the journal, and a package for your rival. Go back to Lucas.
- Lucas shows you a demo on how to catch Pokemon, and gives you 5 pokeballs.
- Head to Jubilife, and you'll see Dawn/Lucas.
- Meet Handsome, the detective (weird, name, huh? They'll
change that in the English version for sure. At least, I think.) He gives you the Battle Recorder, a Key Item. It's used to record battles for you and your friend's viewing pleasure. It's very cool, or it looks like it. Too bad I don't know how to use it. (Meeting Handsome, to the right)
- Going to the trainer school to meet my rival. Basically the same thing as in D/P. Leave afterward, and the Poketch president will go up to you and offer the same thing as he did in D/P. The answers are still all "yes" apparently, and you get the new Poketch. It's much cooler than the Poketch in D/P because it has up and down buttons for easier shuffling through the different apps.
- Head to route 203, which is west of Jubilife, through the cave, and out to Oreburgh city.
- This is just a note: The background on the touch screen changes whenever you battle in a different place. For example, in caves, the background is a dark shade of purple, and in grass, it's green, and in buildings it's grey.
- Same boy greets you, and leads you the the gym. Nothing new. Your rival still stands at the door, and probably tells you the same thing as before: Roark is in the mines.
- At the mine, coal moves out of it!
- Oreburgh mine looks more like a mine; has support beams, and more rocks (or it looks like it has more rocks)
- Oreburgh gym looks the same.
- Roark's team: Geodude: Lv12, Onix, Lv 12, Cranidos Lv 14.
- Different types of grass?!? (route 207)
- Heading back to Jubilife; rival runs into you, again. You don't battle.
- Jubilife: Handsome walks up to you. Dramatic!music plays. He leaves (he walks rather funny.).
- Head north, and like before, Prof Rowan+Dawn/Lucas are confronted by Team Galactic members. Battle ensues. Glameow, Skunky, both Lv 11.
- Get accessory case, like before.
- The GTS is massive. It's been completely revamped, and is way bigger than before, with 3 whole floors! There are teleportation pads to get there; one green, one red. Also has different music.

- However, the TV station is regrettably the exact same thing it was before in D/P, with the only change apparently being that the photos in the Dressing room look different.
- Heading to Floraroma Town. It has a sign, as shown in previous scans, that welcomes visitors into the town, on both sides. There is no snow in Floraroma town. Picture to the right.
- Do everything you did in D/P, as that is the same as what is happening now in Platinum. Head to the Valley Windworks after you're done.
- Jupiter: Zubat Lv 15, Purugly Lv 17
- Handsome meets you when you leave victorious.
- Go to Eterna forest, meet up with cheryl, and then go to Eterna City
- beat Gardenia: Lv 20 Turtwig, Lv 20 Cherrim, Lv 22 Roserade
- Go to the Galactic Building, where your rival will meet you and lead you up the the Palkia statue.
- See Cynthia, who gives you cut. Then go to beat the Galactic Grunts (in their building)
- Beat them, the get out. Cynthia gives you an egg as you go towards the cycling shop
- Get the bike, then go down cycling road, and go to Hearthrome city.
- Buneary will run into you, but you will not see your mom talking with a contest judge, and therefore you will not get your dress/tuxedo.
- Go to Bebe's home (next the Pokemon center) , but make sure you have an extra slot in your party. She gives you an Eevee, Lv 20.
- Amity Square is also alot larger. You can bring your starter pokemon in there, along with lots of other unconfirmed pokemon. You still get accessories and berries. The sign outside the square now features Drifloon, Psyduck, and Torchic.
- Go to the Hearthrome Gym. Fantina: Duskull Lv 24, Haunter Lv 24, Mismagus Lv 26
- Head to Solaceon Town. Your rival waits to battle you after you leave Hearthrome city, so remember to heal!
- The Lost Tower is more dark, gloomy and misty. You do NOT get HM 04 strenght here; so go here only to level up, if you like. This part is COMPLETELY optional.
- Solaceon town's houses have become log cabins. Everything else appears to be the same.
